This past spring I created 3 paintings using the 'juice' color of the tunas off the nopales (Prickly Pear fruit) from my backyard. I exhibited them for the first time in June at CM2 Arts in Los Angeles at the Women who Inspire show.

I dedicated this art to my maternal grandmother my "Nana Maria" from Sonora, Mex. I have fond memories of her and her backyard in Douglas, AZ, it was full of nopales. She would dice them up and freeze them in sandwich bags for us to cook with when we would travel back home to Phoenix. She loved loading us up with her homemade chorizo, machaca/carne seca, tortillas & cheese.

Literally an ice chest full of homemade love.
